What the official assignment asks for
Two class pages share this lecture date: applications and implications (plan the final project) and project development (summary slide and video drafts).
Individual assignment
- Plan a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered: what it will do, who has done what beforehand, what sources you will use, what you will design, what materials and components it needs, where they come from and what they cost, what parts and systems you will make, what processes you will use, what questions need answering, and how it will be evaluated.
- The project should incorporate 2D and 3D design, additive and subtractive fabrication, electronics design and production, embedded microcontroller design, interfacing and programming, and system integration and packaging.
- Where possible, make rather than buy the parts. Projects can be separate or joint but need to show individual mastery and be independently operable.
- Project development: prepare drafts of your final project summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p).
Bare-minimum vs exceptional
TBC
A worked bare-minimum and exceptional rubric for this module has not been written yet. Until then, treat the official assignment above as your minimum, and ask your instructor what they expect.
A general check before you call it done
General checklist from the author, not specific to this module and not official.
- Each official bullet above has evidence in your documentation: files, photos, a short video or output.
- Group work and your own individual contribution are clearly separated and described.
- Source files are linked, not only screenshots, so someone else could reproduce your work.
- You say what failed and what you changed, not only what worked.
- You say how this connects to your final project, even if only a little.
