Ask the tutor

An unofficial Fab Academy tutor you bring your own key to

Ask what a module's assignment asks for, or what bare-minimum and exceptional could look like. It reads this site's pages and links the ones it used.

Unofficial companion

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of Fab Academy or the Fab Foundation. Official requirements, deadlines and grading are on fabacademy.org and with your instructor and lab. Bare-minimum and exceptional criteria here are the author's interpretation, not official grading.

How it works

  1. Open the tutor

Use the button above, or the "Ask the tutor" button at the bottom of any page.

  2. Connect your own OpenRouter account

You sign in with OpenRouter and the tutor uses your own key. By default the key stays in this browser tab and is cleared when you close it or disconnect. You can choose to remember it on this device for up to 7 days; only do that on a device you own.

  3. Ask

The default model is one of OpenRouter's free ones, and you can change it. Free-model availability and limits are set by OpenRouter, not by this site.

What to expect

  • Answers come from an AI model reading pages on this site. It can be wrong, so check anything important on fabacademy.org.
  • It will not do your assignments for you. It coaches, explains and reviews.
  • This site has no server and stores nothing about you. Your questions go from your browser to OpenRouter and the model provider you pick, under their terms and privacy policies.
  • Where a module's rubric says TBC, the tutor should say so rather than guess.

Some things to try

  • "I'm coming back after a break. Where should I start?"
  • "What does the electronics design module ask for?"
  • "What would exceptional embedded programming work look like?"
