Maker by Curiosta · first draft

Maker projects with the parts already picked.

Project ideas for students working through Fab Academy-style topics such as electronics, embedded programming, laser cutting, milling and casting. Each one comes with a parts list, so you can see what a build needs before you start.

Draft, and unofficial

This is an early draft. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of Fab Academy or the Fab Foundation, and it is not a Fab Academy curriculum. Project details, prices and GST rates can be wrong or out of date. Check them before you buy.

What is here

  • Projects. 5 ideas from beginner to advanced, each with what it teaches, a build time, safety notes and a priced parts list.
  • Parts catalogue. 38 priced parts used by the projects, with the seller's price, a source link and the date it was read. Parts shared between projects are marked. There are also 26 draft parts whose prices have not been researched yet; they are listed separately and are in no project or total.
  • Curriculum. An unofficial companion to the Fab Academy curriculum: what each module's official assignment asks for, and what bare-minimum and exceptional work could look like. Open the curriculum.
  • Ask. An optional tutor that runs in your browser with your own OpenRouter account. About the tutor.
  • Buying. There is no online checkout. Email info@curiosta.com to buy or import parts.

How we show prices

  • Prices are what a seller listed, including GST, on the date shown next to each part. They are not a Curiosta quote.
  • No listing states a GST rate. Every part is marked GST unverified, typically 18%. Confirm the rate on a seller invoice.
  • Where we have not found a price, the page says price not available. We do not guess.
  • Shipping is not included. Stock and prices change.
